Smart playlist vs manual playlist
Two types of playlists can be created:
- Smart playlists: These are playlists of events generated from keyword searches (e.g., all "Goals" events from the "World Cup 2018" competition). Smart playlists are dynamic and automatically update when new relevant content is added to the channel.
- Manual playlists: These consist of hand-picked events selected individually by the user. The events in a manual playlist may not share common keywords. Multiple users can collaborate on a manual playlist.
For example, a baseball coach might use smart playlists to analyse a hitter’s performance.
Create a playlist
- Search for a video that contains the desired event.
- Hover your mouse over the event to display the available options.
- Click the "Add event to playlist" button, or click the three dots (⋮) to open the menu and select "Add event to playlist".
- Select several events from the same video
- Click "Create new playlist" (if you want to make a new one).
- Enter a name for your playlist and click "Create".
- Click "Add" to include the selected events in your playlist.
Create a Smart playlist
- Search for events on the dartfish.tv channel using the search bar or by applying keyword filters.
Important: Playlists apply only to events—video playlists cannot be created. The search results must be in event mode.
You can save the filtered results as a Smart Playlist in several ways:
- From the filtered results view, click the "Save" icon in the top-right corner of the page
- Or, click "View playlist" to see the filtered results, then click the "Save" button in the top-right corner
- In the "Save the Playlist as..." window, enter a name for your playlist and an optional description. Click "Save"
- Your playlist is now created and can be found under Your Playlists on the left-hand side of the page
Manage your personal playlists
- Access all your playlists by clicking on Playlists in the menu
- Hover your mouse over a playlist to quickly share, delete, or edit its details (name and description).
Note: For Smart Playlists, only the details (name and description) can be edited.
- Click on the playlist thumbnail to open it and access more editing options.
- Slide the Edit toggle on the right to enable editing mode
- Once editing is enabled, you can reorder events within the playlist using drag and drop.
Collaborate on a playlist
You can invite other users to collaborate on a playlist, making it easy to build, edit, and discuss match events as a team. Collaboration is especially useful for referee reviews, coaching feedback, or analysis groups working with shared video content.

Sharing a Playlist (Non-Collaborative)
You can also share a playlist with another user via a direct link. The recipient will be able to view the shared playlist and save it to their own playlist library.
⚠️ Please note: the saved playlist is a copy of the original. Any changes made by the recipient will not affect the original playlist — and vice versa. If you need real-time updates and joint editing, use the collaboration feature instead.
When opening a shared link, the recipient can:
- View the playlist:
- They must be logged in to their dartfish.tv account.
- They will only see playlist items linked to videos they already have viewing rights for.
- Save the playlist to their personal playlists for future access.
Publish your playlists
You can save a playlist as a new video file and publish it either on a dartfish.tv channel or on your personal Smart Cloud.
Requirements:
- The Web Upload feature must be activated on the target channel.
- You must have publishing rights on the selected collection.
- You must have download rights for the collections where the events originate.
- You must hold a valid myDartfish license: Mobile Plus, 360, 360S, Live, Live S, Pro, or Pro S.
Note: A Smart Playlist can only be published on the dartfish.tv channel the events come from. It cannot be published on a different channel or to your personal Smart Cloud.
To publish a playlist:
- Click on Playlists to view all your saved playlists.
- Select the playlist you want to publish.
- In the Player, click the three dots in the top-right corner to open the menu.
- Click on Publish.
- Choose the collection where you want the video to be published
- Enter the name, description, and keywords for the new video generated from the playlist.
- Click on Publish
