Video can be an excellent tool for making measurements of time because you can accurately identify when actions start and stop. Dartfish Express has a timer tool that can be used to measure elapsed time, countdown time and show split times on still shots.
Measuring time
- Play the video to where timing will start
- Select the timer tool from the video drawing tools
- Tap on the screen where you want the timer to be displayed. It will show the time 00:00:00
- Play the video
Using countdown
- Play the video to where the countdown will end
- Select the timer tool from the video drawing tools
- Tap on the screen where you want the timer to be displayed. It will show the time 00:00:00
- Move back through the video then play it to see the countdown
Saving times and split times
- The timer cannot be paused or stopped but you can record the time on a Still Shot. Here's how:
- Use the timer as before
- At each point where you want to record the time, insert a still shot
- Continue to play the video. Adding a still shot for each split time
- Review split times by swiping across the screen quickly... or selecting a still shot by opening the Still shot list.
- Feel free to remove the timer from the video if no longer needed. The split times will remain on the still shots.
- An alternative approach would be to add multiple timers - one for each split.
